I wanted to give everyone a run down of how mommy and me 5ks started…
I had my sweet little Jaxon and was preggers with baby number two. I was on a mission to stay healthy and active during this pregnancy! With Jaxon I gained way more then I wanted and kept it on for over a year…😳🙄 all that baby weight was supposed to just come right off right!? I guess that’s not how it works 😂😂😫
so with baby number two I wanted to keep active, working out and walking.
There’s a weekly 5k run that happens (hump day 5k) downtown where I live. So I gathered some mommy friends to join me so I wasn’t the only one walking with a stroller 😎👶
we did this for a few weeks and it was a good time but not for us. This was taking place downtown like I said with traffic, small sidewalks and lots of people everywhere. Plus the route isn’t exactly stroller friendly.
So I said screw it I can make my own 5k route and invite all the stroller walking mommies in the area 👍💃🏃🏻♀️👶 And that is exactly what I did! I created stroller friendly 5k routes in local parks around my town, created a schedule and spread the word!
the summer of 2015 I started mommy and me 5k. No racing, no timers, no heavy traffic or crossing busy roads…it was a blast! I walked every Wednesday after work until the end of October when I was about to pop! I had Mia nov 7th and was able to have a healthy pregnancy and stay active through out the whole pregnancy! Yippie!
Then in 2016 I did five big mommy and me 5ks. These were once a month and included a diaper crawl event, raffle for awesome prizes donated by local businesses and I even had a banner made 😜😍🙌 loving it!
